Dairy.com has released its milk manifest handling technology. Known as Mobile Manifest, this technology gives users real-time data acquisition and validation tools through a mobile Web interface or Interactive Voice Response (IVR) technology.
Dairy.com, a provider of Web-based supply chain solutions, says that the method of deployment is the mobile phone and this marks the first electronic deployment of its kind.
The company notes that previously the dairy industry tried using OCR technology, onboard computers in fleet trucks, and specialized software for hand-held computers. All these efforts were not very successful because the businesses faced significant start-up costs. Also, they had to deal with difficult deployments, and ongoing maintenance costs.
By using Mobile Manifest, the dairy industry can not only cost-effectively increase efficiency but will also be able to streamline operations for raw milk manifests.
“It’s faster, more accurate data collection at a fraction of the cost of the other manifest-handling technologies,” said Mitch Norby, CTO of Dairy.com. “Many milk haulers already carry mobile phones, which makes it cost-effective to deploy across an entire fleet.”
Mobile Manifest can deliver several benefits to the dairy industry including increased speed and accuracy. Data is now instantly validated as it is gathered, user interface is customizable and works with non-Dairy.com payroll systems, and the solution can handle commingled loads, third-party carriers, drop yards, and more.
According to the company, Mobile Manifest also guarantees flexibility, a customizable user interface, minimal start-up costs, and higher quality data-less effort.
