When it comes to charity, “in the cloud” can have two meanings; not only does it have a “heavenly” connotation to it, bringing about do-good feelings, it’s also a rather helpful technology that allows giving organizations do what they do best, and that’s assist others in times of need.
2012 ended with a lot of rough headlines, from Superstorm Sandy to Sandy Hook Elementary School, but one common thread remained, and that’s the organizations behind the tragedies that uplifted the victims, helping to pull communities together, bit by bit.
Technology like cloud computing can play a crucial role in how organizations assist neighborhoods in times of need. Cloud service providers can set a precedent in 2013 by donating their cloud services to organizations who do good for the greater good, and according to IVR provider, Angel, it can readily help organizations with technology budgets which tend to be more of a luxury product despite it being a necessity for productivity reasons.
Angel has donated its outbound customer experience technologies to Our Neighbor’s Child which assists low-income families with holiday gifts for children. Using cloud technology, the charitable organization was able to help volunteers be more productive when it came to scheduling gift deliveries. By leveraging cloud technology, volunteers no longer needed to spend lengthy times manually calling homes to complete a simple task. The success rate of using Angel increased to 96 percent, making Our Neighbor’s Child a rather thriving charity when their community needed it most.
Angel challenges service providers of all types to step up this year, whether it’s through IVR technology, cloud computing, communications needs or website presence – all can make a difference for a charity organization and how they help service the people.
Many of us might not pause to think that technology has a deep social impact on how we help each other. Technologies like cloud computing are a driver for social change. Technology probably has some of the answers to the economic and social challenges that many societies face around the world today.
